Stain Removal: Grease

On washable material, dab with dry-cleaning fluid, then wash. On non-washable material use a dry cleaning fluid.

Remove a grease line from a shirt collar and cuffs by rubbing heavily along the mark with ordinary chalk. Leave overnight and the dirt will come out in the wash.

To get an old black grease stain off fabric, rub gently with lard or margarine and then wash as normal.

To remove greasy stains from wood mix talcum powder and methylated spirits into a sloppy paste. Paint on to the stain and leave to dry. Brush off.

To remove grease stains from leather rub in washing-up liquid. Leave to dry and then polish off.

Remove grease marks from vinyl by holding an ice cube on the stain before washing it with soapy water.
