Stain Removal: Chewing Gum
Freeze-harden the chewing gum by placing the item in the freezer or by rubbing it with an
ice cube placed in a plastic bag (so that it doesn't wet the fabric). Tap the frozen gum with a hammer then pick or scrape off what remains. Dab
the area with dry-cleaning fluid, methylated spirits, or white spirit before washing.
Egg-white removes chewing gum from washable fabrics. Apply when the gum is soft, pick off as much as possible and launder as usual. On
non-washable fabrics sponge with dry-cleaning fluid.
