Making the Treasure Hunt Fun!
Each of the treasure hunt rhyming clues provided is in the form of a four-line rhyme to make it just that bit more special and, well, fun! And it costs only £3.00! The Treasure Hunt Pack is designed with a small number of children in mind – one, two, or three (maybe four at a push). Typically it would be for brothers and sisters searching for clues around your home, or one of your children with one or two best friends! The children hunting for treasure work as a team, all solving the clues together (or taking turns – it's up to you), so competitive behaviour is minimised, and at the end of the hunt they all win: they either get one special present each or a large special present to share (eg games console, trampoline).
Ideally all of the children should be old enough to read, so perhaps 6 or 7 years old or so, and not too old to find it "beneath them" -- my
children are 13 and 15 and are just beginning to reach the upper limit. Younger than 7 can still join in the search (all the children search
together as a team) but they may not be able to read the clues; if they are older than, say, 13 then you could ask them to "join in and make
sure the younger ones don't do anything stupid".
The main instruction booklet is 30 pages in PDF format, readable on any home computer (instructions provided). The blanks for your own clues are included as Microsoft Word and OpenOffice.org formats, so make sure you can use at least one of them if you want to create your own clues.
